Now till August 22: The Friends’ “Bring a Book to the Beach” raffle. $1.00 a ticket gets you the chance to win a tote bag and other items worth $85. The name will be chosen at the Musical Mayhem Carnival.
August 11 at 10:30 – Teen Craft: Marble Magnets, for ages 12-18. We’ll make 6-8 magnets to decorate lockers, rooms, or fridges. Sign up at the library.
August 18 & 19 – Visit the Friends of the Library booth at the Rochester Town Fair. We’ll have many of the items the Friends sell, such as canvas tote bags, book journals for kids and adults, Rochester journals, and used books. The funds raised by these sales go to support library programs, so c’mon down! Volunteers are needed to help with the booth, so, if you’ve got an hour or two to spare that weekend between 9-4, call or drop by the library and speak to Gail.
August 21, 3:00 p.m.: Family Folk Concert with Mark Roberts and Andrea Cooper, outdoors by the gazebo. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and your dancing shoes and listen to Mark and Andrea play Irish and US dance tunes on flute, pennywhistle, and banjo.
August 22, 2:00: Musical Mayhem Carnival. End the summer reading program with a musical time! Spend your Book Bucks playing games and maybe winning prizes. Adults and Teens: the raffle baskets will be given away at this time.
August 30, 6:30 p.m.: Cafe Parlez discusses “The Devil in the White City” by Erik Larson.
The Friends booksale will take place Sept. 8. Donations are being accepted at the library, or call the library for pickup. Volunteers are needed for this event, too. Again, check with Gail for times and dates.
